Certified Nurse Aides are in demand. Become a part of the challenging world of health care. This course will prepare the students for care of the ill, disabled, or elderly person in the nursing home or hospital setting. Students are eligible to take the state certification nurse aide test after successful completion of the 90-hour class. This is a blended course with online and face-to-face components. Selected readings and student assignments are online. Discussion and skills are addressed during face-to-face clinical sessions at a facility designated by Cloud County Community College. Students must be able to access the Internet to obtain and complete course assignments by due dates.
Performance Requirements: Students must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Students must be able to communicate/ consult with patients in order to understand the patients' needs.
This course is for the certified nurse aides (CNA's) who have not met the requirement that they have been employed to perform nursing tasks in the past 24 consecutive months, or who cannot obtain verification for such employment. The refresher course was developed to give employers another option for updating an aide's eligibility to work. Now a licensed registered nurse may administer a Kansas Nurse Aide Task Checklist - for Employment Verification or the CNA may successfully complete the CNA Refresher Course.
Academic: If academic adjustment is needed for any type of disability, students should contact the Director of Advising Services, located in Student Services. Students requiring auxiliary aids and services need to request accommodation in advance of the start of class.
Other than Academic: If special arrangements are needed for accessibility, contact the Vice President for Administrative Services at least 72 hours in advance.
Eligible students can use military payments (GI Bill, Tuition Assistance) or financial aid (FAFSA, K.HPOP, DCF, Workforce Development) to help pay for the class. Please email Raven Smith raven.smith@cloud.edu for more information.
