The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES Act) signed into law on March 27, 2020, created education stabilization funds available through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).

Cloud County Community College (OPE ID: 00190900) signed and submitted the Certification and Agreement of usage for the CARES Act to the Education Department on May 8, 2020.

By signing this Certification and Agreement, CCCC intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students as emergency financial assistance to help cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations in the wake of COVID-19.

CCCC has received $763,297.00 in total from the CARES Act, and $38,248 in HEERF Strengthening Institution Program funds.  Not less than 50% of these funds in the amount of $401,956.25 will be disbursed directly to students as Emergency Financial Aid Grants.

CCCC students were notified by e-mail and instructions and guidance was provided to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants application process This information was also available on our web site at https://www.cloud.edu/about/covid19-news

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to receive the CARES Act funding.

  • Must be enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester in 6 credit hours or more.
  • Be eligible to participate in Title IV Federal Financial Aid.
  • High school students, students enrolled exclusively in online classes or international students are NOT eligible to receive these funds
  • Must submit the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund Application form.
  • Consideration to receive funds may also be given to students who do not submit the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund application if funds are available.

The intent of Emergency Financial Aid Grants is to support students experiencing temporary financial hardship.  Funds are limited and are not intended to provide ongoing relief.

Included with the check is the following message: By accepting the payment, you acknowledge that you have expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19 during the Spring 2020 semester.  If you do not have expenses related from disruption due to COVID-19, you may return this check to Cloud County Community College Attn: Business Office, 2221 Campus Drive, Concordia, KS  66901. 

CCCC is required to provide an update every 45 days that includes the number of eligible students, number of students who have received Emergency Financial Aid Grants and Total Emergency Financial Aid Grants given to all students. This document will be the main source to find this updated information.
