Area youth invited to Thor Days, Kid's College

Area youth in first through sixth grade are invited to attend either Thor Days or Kid’s College on the Cloud County Community College Concordia campus in July.

This year, Thor Days will be for fourth, fifth and sixth graders on July 17 and 18. They will begin their day at 9 a.m., and finish at 4 p.m. There will be three class sessions – the first from 9-11 a.m., the second from 12 p.m.-2 p.m., and the third from 2-4 p.m. There will be an hour lunch break from 11 a.m.-noon, and lunch will be provided by the college. Cost for 4th-6th graders will be $30, which includes a T-shirt, enrollment in three classes, and lunch.

Classes to be offered for 4th-6th grade Thor Days will be: Renewable Energy, Drones, Exploring Music, Painting Pet Portraits, Exploring Space, The World of Radio, Nursing 101, Do it Yourself, and Puzzled.

Students in grades 1-3 will attend Kid’s College on July 19 and 20, from 1-4 p.m. There will be three class sessions, with each session being an hour long. Cost for 1st-3rd graders will be $25, which includes enrollment in three classes and a T-Shirt.

Classes to be offered for 1st-3rd grade Kid’s College will be: Renewable Energy, Drones, DIY Crafts, Bookworms (with the CCCC Library and Frank Carlson Library), Firefighters (with the Concordia Fire Department), Mosaic Fun, Tye Dye, LEGO fun, Kid Detective (with the Concordia Police Department), Jewelry Making, Puzzled, and Cars.

Early enrollment deadline for both sections of Kid’s College is June 16. Classes are limited in size, so early enrollment is suggested. A T-shirt cannot be guaranteed without early enrollment. Registration fliers, which include full descriptions of classes, have been delivered to area schools. Fliers are also available on the college website at www.cloud.edu, under the “about” tab.
