Nursing students at Cloud County Community College successfully sat for the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) and received high pass rates. For the Registered Nurse (RN) exam, 90 percent of Cloud nursing students passed on their first attempt.

“I am very proud of the 40 2023 associate degree nursing graduates,” said Stefanie Perret, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. “The students and faculty worked hard together, not only in preparation for this exam, but to safely enter an ever-changing health care industry.”

The pass rate results will be official when the Kansas Board of Nursing meets in March.

Not only are Cloud nursing students successful taking the NCLEX exam, but they find success in the workforce as well. Ninety-five percent of students have accepted a job as a registered nurse within six months of graduation. And, 70 percent of Cloud nursing graduates stay in the college’s 12-county service area.

“Cloud nursing graduates are highly sought after by regional and state employers,” Perret said. “Many graduates have accepted positions prior to graduation and taking the NCLEX-RN exam.”

Perret credits some of the students’ success with the college’s partnerships with area hospitals. The college partners with 35 area hospitals, long-term care facilities, non-profit agencies, and school districts to provide a robust clinical experience for students throughout the service area.

“The strong partnerships that exist between Cloud and our clinical sites prepares students for a successful career after graduation.” Perret said. “This collaborative learning environment with industry partners makes the transition from education to practice smoother for graduates.”
