Emergency Student Scholarship

Emergency Student Scholarship Criteria

Emergency student scholarships are available for only ONE academic semester per year.

PURPOSE:
The Cloud County Community College Foundation Emergency Student Scholarship provides scholarships for qualified CCCC students and is intended for students who are confronted with an emergency financial need that, if not met, could result in an inability to complete classes or a degree program.

Poor financial choices do not constitute an emergency (e.g. credit card debt, poor use of financial aid funding, loans to friends or family of need based aid). This scholarship is not intended to supplement a student’s financial aid package. The CCCC Foundation Office does not provide summer term or interterm funding.

Students who will be considered for this scholarship should fall within one of the following categories:

1. Students who have exhausted financial aid resources (including Federal aid programs through FAFSA) and an outstanding balance still remains on the student’s account.

2. Students who are confronted with an unexpected personal crisis that has caused them to become unable to meet their college financial obligations (examples may include, change in family income/support, loss of a job, death of an immediate family member, natural disaster, pending eviction or home foreclosure, burglary, or fire).

DO I QUALIFY?

Applicants must meet the criteria listed below:

•Must be currently enrolled and attending classes at Cloud County Community College.

•Must have applied for need-based support through the Financial Aid Office. If you have concerns about the

details of your financial aid package please contact the Financial Aid Office.

•Submit a 300-word essay explaining your need for this emergency scholarship.

•Students must submit a list, noting source(s) of funding and amount of assistance they are already receiving.

•If awarded a scholarship, student must write a thank you note to the scholarship committee.

•Scholarships can cover educational expenses for the fall or spring (tuition, fees, room and board, books etc.)

•Student must submit a completed CCCC Foundation Emergency Student Scholarship application. This

scholarship is not renewable.

Award Amount: Amount varies based on need and available funds. Typically, awards range from $750 to $1,500 will be awarded each term.

•Meet all requirements described above.

•Include the essay described above.

•Include documentation to support your need.

CCCC Foundation Emergency Student Scholarships are awarded to qualified students enrolled at CCCC. The number and profile of applicants will vary by semester; consequently, a student may be awarded an emergency scholarship one semester, but not the next.

Cloud County Community College employees and/or family members who qualify for CCCC tuition remission are not eligible to receive this scholarship. The scholarships are not cash refundable and are applied directly to the cost of attendance for the semester awarded.

Receipt of a CCCC Foundation Emergency Student Scholarship is contingent upon successful completion of the enrolled courses each semester. Students who withdraw from courses may be subject to forfeiture of all monies awarded.
