Rights and Responsibilities

As a student consumer you have the right to know:

• What Financial Aid is available;
• The deadline for submitting applications for each of these programs;
• How Financial Aid eligibility is determined and how financial assistance is awarded;
• An accurate estimate of the total cost of attending (COA) CCCC, including tuition/fees, food/housing, transportation, books/supplies, and miscellaneous expenses;
• A description of the various awards in your Financial Aid package;
• The school's refund/repayment policy;
• What portion of financial assistance received must be repaid and what portion is a grant;
• If the assistance is a loan, you have the right to know the interest rate, the total amount to be repaid, repayment procedures, how much time you have to repay the loan, and when the repayment begins;
• How the school determines whether you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and what happens if you are not;
• That you have confidential protection of your Financial Aid records. The contents of your financial aid file are maintained in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

It is the responsibility of the student to:

• Understand and comply with the terms and conditions of aid that you receive;
• Complete all financial assistance applications and forms with thorough and accurate information within deadlines;
• Return all forms and additional documentation, verification, corrections, and new information requested by the CCCC Financial Aid Office in a timely fashion;
• Use Financial Aid Funds only for education-related expenses (tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies and other living costs);
• Report changes in name, address, and telephone to all appropriate offices promptly and also to your loan servicer if applicable;
• Notify the Financial Aid Office if you receive any scholarships, grants, or other financial assistance from sources outside the college;
• Register for appropriate number of credits for courses that count towards your degree;
• Understand the Financial Aid Offices Return to Title IV refund policy and the consequences of withdrawing;
• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress to continue to be eligible for Financial Aid.
