The Spring Music Concert is April 30.

Cloud County Community College’s Music Department will present its Spring Band Concert on Sunday, April 30. The concert, which is free, will be at 3 p.m. in Cook Theatre on the Concordia campus.

The concert will feature the Community Concert Band, Cloud Kicks Jazz Band, and the Rolling Thunder Pep Band. Morgan McCabe, Concordia High School Vocal Director, will be a guest vocalist, performing with the Jazz Band.

The Jazz Band is an auditioned ensemble open to both college and community members that performs a Blues, Jazz, Big Band, Latin, and Rock repertoire. The band will perform several numbers, including “Close Quarters,” “Moten Swing,” and “Stormy Weather.” Two numbers will feature McCabe as a guest vocalist: “Hello,” as recorded by Adele, and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” from the movie Toy Story.

The Pep Band’s repertoire will include “Push It,” as recorded by Salt-n-Pepa; “Tequila,” arranged by Paul Jennings; “That’s the Way I Like It,” as recorded by KC & The Sunshine Band; and “Turn the Beat Around,” as recorded by Gloria Estefan.

The concert will conclude with a performance by the Concert Band, which is a non-auditioned community ensemble that performs primarily traditional wind and concert band selections. The band will perform selections including “Sea Shanties,” “Spring,” and “The Pink Panther.”

The Community Band is under the direction of Renata Knox, and the Jazz Band is directed by Christopher Langsford, instructor in music at Cloud County. He can be reached at chris.langsford@cloud.edu with any questions.
