Cloud County Community College’s music ensembles will present a holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. in Cook Theatre. The concert is free and open to the public.
Cloud County Community College’s music ensembles will present a holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. in Cook Theatre. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Community Concert Band will perform Jingle Bell Rag, by Bill Calhoun; Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, arranged by Larry Kerchner; and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, with guest vocalist Landon Slipke.
Slipke, originally from Norton, is the vocal music instructor at Concordia Jr.-Sr. High School. A graduate of Bethany College in 2018, Slipke has been singing tenor for the past 11 years. While at Bethany, he performed in honors recitals, sang solos for Handel’s Messiah, participated in musicals, directed the St. Peter’s UCC of Inman Church Choir, and performed as first chair flute in the Kansas Intercollegiate Band.
The Community Concert Band, along with the Rolling Thunder Percussion Ensemble, will perform Steampunk Christmas, by Len Orcino.
The Community Chorale will sing the Hannukah Song, arranged by R.J. LaFontaine; Born ‘Neath a Star, by Cynthia Gray; Sing a Song of Merry Christmas, by Mozart; and Kwanzaa Spirit, by Ginger Starling.
The Jazz Band will perform Linus & Lucy, by Vince Guaraldi and arranged by John Berry; and Silver Bells, Frosty the Snowman and I’ll Be Home for Christmas, all arranged by Frank Mantooth.
The Community Concert Band, Rolling Thunder Percussion Ensemble, Community Chorale, and Jazz Band are all under the direction of Cloud County Community College music instructor Chris Langsford.
