Foundation Introduction Video

Hi, my name is Heather Gennette. I’m the Foundation Director at Cloud County Community College. I’m here today to tell you a little bit about what the Foundation does for our students as well the college as a whole.

First I want to start off by introducing you to some special ladies. We have Carleen Nordell, Director of Alumni and Community Engagement. She is in charge of alumni and community events, as well as alumni relations. Stephanie Downie is our Foundation Specialist and Scholarship Coordinator. She is your go-to girl for any scholarship questions you may have. And then there’s me again, Heather Gennette (Director of the Foundation), I oversee the Foundation operations as well as donor relations and grant writing.

Many of you are probably wondering… “What is a Foundation?” Well, we were established as a non-profit organization to directly benefit the college and give to their needs. We reach out to our alumni and donors and ask them to give in order to help you have a better experience at Cloud.

What you are probably most familiar with the Foundation is our scholarships, which is what I will mainly be talking about today. So, what is the scholarship information you need to know?

The application is open from November 1st to March 1st. We award for the next academic year. So unfortunately, we don’t have any leftover for this academic year, but the application will open on November 1st for next year (2020-2021).

We award over $300,000 every year and this is Foundation and Academic money. You have to fill out the application in order to receive either of those types of scholarships.

We do offer renewable scholarships. Not all of our scholarships are renewable; that’s important to know, so you will have to re-apply if you were awarded a scholarship that is non-renewable.

The last thing that I want to mention is Emergency Scholarships. We do have some that are available and you have to be eligible and meet the criteria of our Emergency Scholarships. You can find that information from any Foundation Office staff, so please stop by if you are in need of an Emergency Scholarship.

That is all I have for you today. If you all ever have any questions, feel free to stop by the Foundation Office or give us a call. We are here for you guys and can’t wait to meet you.
