Annual Youth for Music event set Jan. 26 and 27 in Concordia
(Concordia, KS) – Nearly 300 high school students from 20 Kansas schools will rehearse and perform Jan. 26 and 27 in Concordia at the 38th annual Youth for Music event.
Cloud County Community College and Tom’s Music House, Concordia, are co-sponsors of Youth for Music.
A concert for the public will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Brown Grand Theatre, downtown Concordia. Concert tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and will be available at the door.
Host conductors are Dr. Everett Miller, CCCC vocal music instructor, and Patrick Sieben, CCCC band director. Guest band director is Stuart Roegge, Concordia High School. Guest choir directors are Ryan Holmquist, Minneapolis High School, and Cindy Kauk, Phillipsburg High School. Choir accompanists are Jenna Carver, Southern Cloud, and Jan Melhus, Ada Lutheran Church, Courtland.
Rehearsals are scheduled Saturday for both the band at the Brown Grand Theatre and the choir at the college’s Cook Theatre and music room.
Participating schools include Beloit, Cheney, Concordia, Hanover, Hoisington,
Logan, Lucas-Luray, Minneapolis, Phillipsburg, Pike Valley, Plainville, Pretty Prairie, Rock Hills, St. Johns-Beloit, Smith Center, Southern Cloud, Stockton, Tipton, Washington, and Wilson.
