CONCORDIA, KS—Nineteen students became members of the Upsilon Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Cloud County Community College’s Concordia campus on November 8. Chapter advisors Kimberly Muff and Tammy Budreau inducted the students during a ceremony in the presence of family members and other special guests.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges founded in 1918 to recognize and encourage academic achievement. PTK also provides opportunities for individual growth and development through leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service. Students who have completed at least 12 hours of transferrable credit while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 are invited to join. Current chapter officers are Morgan Dowell, President; Savannah Thomas, Vice President of Leadership; Cheyenne Niehues, Vice President of Scholarship; and Kristen Harris, Vice President of Service.
Guests attending the PTK induction ceremony were welcomed by college president Dr. Richard Underbakke. The Concordia campus’s Instructor of the Year, Dr. William McGuire, was the guest speaker.
