Lady T-Birds Knock Out KC; Face Coffeyville Friday

(Concordia, KS) -- Despite a sluggish start to their opening round of Region VI play, the Lady Thunderbirds recovered late in the 1^st half and put together a solid second half to knock out the Lady Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College, 78-53.  A strong defensive effort turned 22 KC turnovers into 30 points.  Four Lady T-Birds hit double figures led by sophomore point guard Stephanie Bryant who knocked down 14 points, going 5/7 from the floor and 4/4 from the line.  Katie O’Neill and Kenya Howard added 13 points each while Monique Pitts contributed 10 points, 3 assists and 2 steals.

The 8^th seed Lady Thunderbirds (24-6) will face the #1 seed Coffeyville Community College Lady Red Ravens (22-9) Friday night at 7 p.m. in Wichita State University’s beautiful Koch Arena.  The winner of that game will take on the Cowley/Seward winner on Monday at 1 p.m.
