Late Free Throws Deliver T-Birds Past Pratt
(Concordia, KS) -- The Cloud County men’s basketball team didn’t capture their 10th conference win with a great deal of flare, but rather managed to hit 15 of 20 second half free throws to deliver themselves to a 65-59 home regular season finally. The Thunderbirds (18-10, 10-4, 3rd) also did a fantastic job on the boards outrebounding the Beavers 43 to 31. Cloud’s Rudy Meo led all scorers with 19 points. Point guard Girod Adams added 14 points, 2 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore forward Kendall Russell poured in 10 points to round out the double figure scoring. Scoring: Kovalov – 5; Moss – 4; Farmer – 7; Blocker – 6.
The T-Birds will close out the season with two tough road tests. Cloud will travel to Dodge City on Wednesday (8 p.m.) and then to Hutchinson on Saturday (4 p.m.).
Saturday night’s home win secures a 1st round Region VI Tournament home game to be played on Wednesday, March 5th in Arley Bryant Gymnasium at 8 p.m.
Sorry, but due to the financial obligation of hosting two - 1st round games, no free passes will be honored, which include faculty, staff, Booster and Golden Age. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $3 for school-age kids at the gate. Advance tickets will go on sale Wednesday, February 27th for $3 (adult) and $1 (school-age) and can be purchased in the CCCC Athletic Department.
