Cloud County Community College to host reading & learning association
(CONCORDIA, KS) – Fifty one college learning and reading specialists and four peer tutors from six states will be on the Cloud County Community College Concordia campus for an April 17 and 18 conference.
CCCC will host the Heartland Chapter, College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) 2008 Conference involving employees and tutors from two and four-year colleges and universities. Sue Regan, director of Cloud’s Learning Resource Center, is conference coordinator.
Keynote speaker is Gretchen Starks-Martin, the CRLA Board of Directors executive assistant, St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. CCCC speakers include Les Hemphill, director of advising and counseling; Beth Whisler, psychology, education and sociology instructor, and Cathy Forshee, Title III trainer and business instructor.
Other speakers are Cathy Gann, Dawn Terrick, David McWilliams and Jeanie Manning, all of Missouri Western State University; Ron Given, PLATO Learning, and Karen Agee, University of Northern Iowa.
Evening events include dining at the Huckleberry Tea House and a tour of the National Orphan Train Museum and Research Center.
