Speed Fiction Contest deadline April 17

(CONCORDIA, KS) – Cloud County Community College English-Communications Department announces its third Annual Speed Fiction Contest.

Contest coordinators define “speed fiction” as micro-stories that include the basics of fiction—character, conflict, climax, resolution, setting, theme— all in 100 words.

Entrants are invited to test their word economy and conciseness of expression.

Winners will be selected in three divisions: Youth (high school and younger); College and Adult.

Guidelines and an entry form are available from CCCC English Instructor Jonathon Wild, (800) 729-5101, ext. 241 or online at www.cloud.edu, English Department, Events link. Entry form photocopies will be accepted.

Entries must be postmarked by midnight April 17.

First place winners will be notified by April 25 and invited to read their selections at the “Cloud Burst Review” April 30 at CCCC’s Cook Theatre on the Concordia campus.
