Public urged to share ideas on CCCC existing and future facilities
(CONCORDIA, KS) -- The public may comment on existing and future Cloud County Community College facilities at an “Idea Festival” scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 23 on the Concordia campus. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the CCCC Conference Center.
CCCC President Richard Underbakke invites all interested individuals to bring comments and suggestions to the meeting coordinated by staff from PLACES Architects, Wichita, and Bartlett & West, Lawrence. The two firms are preparing a facilities master plan for Cloud, examining existing facility remodeling and renovations, proposed sites for future buildings, vehicle and pedestrian traffic systems, and parking and recreation facilities.
The architects and design professionals are coordinating the “Idea Festival” on Oct. 23 and 24. They will meet with various groups on campus including the public, college staff, faculty, foundation officials and students. Other sessions will involve City of Concordia officials and the Concordia Area Chamber of Commerce weekly coffee.
Information gathered will help the specialists draft a formal facilities master plan for the college. Most of the facilities at the Concordia campus are 40 years old.
“We strongly urge anyone interested in the college and its facilities to share their ideas at the Oct. 23 evening session,” Dr. Underbakke said. “The more input we receive from the public, the better our final plan.”
Persons unable to attend the meeting may view current announcements and provide comments online at www.ccccfmp.com. The Web site is currently under construction, but is accessible and will be in full operation in the near future.
