#21 Lady T-Birds Break Broncbuster’s Hearts
(Concordia, KS) - In a conference game so close to St. Valentine’s Day, the 21st ranked Lady Thunderbirds were less than “loving” with the visiting Garden City Lady Broncbusters. Cloud scored early and often in route to a 80-54 blowout. Playing without center Kara Champlin, who fell sick on Wednesday, the Lady T-Birds forced 28 Garden City turnovers and blazed the nets with 45% shooting from the floor. Sophomore Kenya Howard led all scores with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore sharp-shooter Amy Chapman added 13 points to round out the double figure scoring. Scoring: Schirmer – 8; Kermis – 2; Pitts – 4; Eddy – 2; O’Neill – 9; Bryant – 6; Schmitt – 3; White – 6.
Cloud County improves to 20-4 overall and 9-2 in conference play, trailing Barton by a half game in the Jayhawk West. The Lady T-Birds will be in action this weekend as they play host to the Lady Trojans of Colby Community College on Saturday, the 16th at 6 p.m. Saturday also marks Cloud County’s Winter Homecoming celebration and Sunday will be the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction ceremony at 1 p.m. in Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
