#21 Lady T-Birds Break Broncbuster’s Hearts

(Concordia, KS) - In a conference game so close to St. Valentine’s Day, the 21^st ranked Lady Thunderbirds were less than “loving” with the visiting Garden City Lady Broncbusters.  Cloud scored early and often in route to a 80-54 blowout.  Playing without center Kara Champlin, who fell sick on Wednesday, the Lady T-Birds forced 28 Garden City turnovers and blazed the nets with 45% shooting from the floor.  Sophomore Kenya Howard led all scores with 27 points and 8 rebounds.  Sophomore sharp-shooter Amy Chapman added 13 points to round out the double figure scoring.  Scoring:  Schirmer – 8; Kermis – 2; Pitts – 4; Eddy – 2; O’Neill – 9; Bryant – 6; Schmitt – 3; White – 6. 

Cloud County improves to 20-4 overall and 9-2 in  conference play, trailing Barton by a half game in the Jayhawk West.  The Lady T-Birds will be in action this weekend as they play host to the Lady Trojans of Colby Community College on Saturday, the 16^th at 6 p.m.  Saturday also marks Cloud County’s Winter Homecoming celebration and Sunday will be the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction ceremony at 1 p.m. in Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
