Two Star Parties in February
(CONCORDIA, KS) -- Cloud County Community College invites stargazers to the Concordia campus on Feb. 16 and 20 to view interesting arrays of celestial objects in the night sky.
Among featured events at the “Star Party” from 8 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 are Planets Saturn and Mars and Constellations Orion, Taurus, Cassiopeia, Beetlegeuse, Aldebaran and the Winter Triangle.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 7:30 to 10 p.m., stargazers using several Dobsonian telescopes can view a 52-minute total lunar eclipse.
Dennis Smith, CCCC physical science instructor and Earl Bane Observatory director, invites the public to the free viewings.
The observatory is located on the CCCC Concordia campus near the soccer fields, up the hill from the college entrance flagpole.
