The Clyde High School art class toured the Art Department at Cloud County Community College’s Concordia
campus on November 8. Students experienced carving in clay with career ceramic
artists Catharine Magel, St. Louis, MO, and Mara Smith, Seattle, WA. The artists are working on the Cloud County Historical Museum’s Whole Wall Project.
Peggy Wambold, Clyde’s Art Instructor, accompanied the students.
Barb Stevens, Cloud’s Art Instructor, said, “Cloud’s art department feels that
having career artists working in our facility has been a wonderful example for
the art students, and will open up some possibilities for the students to be as
creative in their job search as they are in their projects. To have the
local high schools bring their art students to campus to experience the carving
of the wall first hand has been an additional bonus for the high schools and
the college.”
Cat Scratch Productions, Concordia High School’s broadcast production class,
captured the event for a future broadcast on the public access channel.
