Four students named to All-Kansas Academic Team

(CONCORDIA, KS) – Four Cloud County Community College students have been named members of the 2010 All-Kansas Academic Team. These students are among the top 49 community college students in Kansas that will be recognized for their academic accomplishments in an award ceremony Feb. 18 at the Ramada Inn Hotel in Topeka

CCCC, Geary County campus students selected for this honor are Anita Pritchett, Junction City, and David Ramirez, Junction City. Scott Henry, Netawaka, and Patrick Schulte, Seneca, were selected from the Concordia campus.

These scholars have been named to the 2010 All-Kansas Academic Team, sponsored by the international headquarters of Phi Theta Kappa international honor society, the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees and the Kansas Council of Community College Presidents.

Each of these students was selected by his or her own community college for the statewide academic team, and each also is a nominee for the 2010 All-USA Academic Team, sponsored by USA Today, Phi Theta Kappa and the American Association of Community Colleges.

Pritchett is majoring in Elementary Education and plans to transfer to Kansas State University. She is involved at the Geary County Campus as Phi Theta Kappa Chapter President; Campus Crusade for Christ Treasurer; member of the TRIO Program; Quiz Bowl Team member; Peer Tutor; Rotary Student of the Month – January 2009 and member of the President’s Honor Roll. Pritchett has also completed mission work in Mexico and currently volunteers in many areas at church.

Ramirez is a Pre-Dentistry major and plans to attend Fort Hays State University after graduating from Cloud. He is involved as Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Vice President of Leadership; Student Representative for the college; Peer Tutor and a member TRIO Program. Ramirez volunteers for the 4-H Senior Citizen Program, Valley View and Templo la Hermosa. He is also a member of the President’s Honor Roll.

Henry is an Agronomy major and will attend Kansas State University next fall.
He is involved on the Concordia campus as a Phi Theta Kappa member; Chemistry Peer Tutor; and a participant on the Soils and Crops Judging Teams. Henry has been on the President’s Honor Roll and is a Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree.

Schulte’s major is Pre-Medicine. He is undecided on where he will attend college after Cloud. At CCCC, Schulte is a Phi Theta Kappa member and men’s basketball team member. He is also involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Peer Tutoring; Resident Assistant; volunteer for highway clean-up and Moose Lodge Thanksgiving Dinner. Schulte has also been named to the President’s Honor Roll.
