Cloud reads to Preschoolers event to be held

(CONCORDIA, KS) – The Cloud County Community College Early Childhood Resource and Referral Agency will host “Cloud Reads to Preschoolers”, Thursday, November 19 at the CCCC campus in Concordia. The event will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. and will be held in Arley Bryant Gymnasium.

The event is being held as part of the annual statewide event, “Kansas Reads to Preschool Week.” The purpose of the week is to promote awareness of the importance of early literacy for children.

Each year a book is chosen by The Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library of Kansas. This year’s book is “Wiggle” by Doreen Cronin. CCCC Librarian Jennifer Schroeder will be reading “Wiggle”. Thor, the CCCC Thunderbird, will be there to act out the actions of the book and guide the children through an obstacle course.

The CCCC ECR&R Agency was able to provide 30 Literacy Kits to Family Child Care Homes and Child Care Centers. These kits were available in English and Spanish.
Through grants and help from the Kansas State Library, the CCCC ECR&R Agency was also able to deliver over 200 “Wiggle” books to several child care providers in their 19 county service delivery area.
