Leif Family Scholarship – A $7,000 endowment established on Aug. 8, 2007, by Mrs. Bethine Leif in memory of her husband, Robert D. Leif. The person selected must be a Nebraska high school graduate and registered as a full-time student at Cloud County Community College, Concordia Campus. The recipient must be seriously considering a major in architecture, engineering or education and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) –- Four students at Cloud County Community College’s Concordia Campus received the American Degree at the 80th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 27. The American Degree is the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization and recognizes demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing and service programs.

| October Rotary Students of the Month |
(CONCORDIA, KS) -– Stephanie Bryant of Silver Lake has been chosen as the Rotary College Student of the Month for October at Cloud County Community College’s Concordia Campus. Comments offered on her nomination forms included, “Stephanie strives to excel in every area of her life. She works hard in the classroom and on the basketball court, while encouraging others to do the same. When asked to move beyond traditional class work and participate in citizenship and community service projects, Stephanie rose to the challenge and led the class with a commitment to the projects and with a positive attitude. We are fortunate to have Stephanie at Cloud County Community College following the legacy of her grandfather, Arlie Bryant.”
Stephanie plays basketball for the Lady T-Birds. She will complete an Associate of Science degree in Exercise Science while at Cloud and is undecided on her transfer school; however, she plans to complete a degree in chiropractic medicine. Her parents are Brad and Nancy Bryant of Silver Lake.

(CONCORDIA, KS) –Katie Conwell and Ben Noble were named King and Queen during the Fall Homecoming ceremony at the Concordia Campus of Cloud County Community College on Saturday, October 13th.
Katie is the daughter of Doug and Carole Conwell, Wamego, Kansas. She is a Business major, a member of the Cloud County Volleyball Team, and an Admissions Office Student Ambassador.
Ben is the son of Bill and Vickie Noble of Belleville, Kansas, majoring in Construction Engineering Technology. Ben is an officer for the Cloud County Student Senate, a Student Ambassador, and a member of FCA.

(CONCORDIA, KS) – Cloud County Community College President Dr. Richard Underbakke has announced official Fall enrollment at the college is up 300 credit hours or a 1.56 per cent increase compared to last year at this time. Sunday, August 26th marked the day of the Thunderbird Booster Clubs T-Bird Golf Classic. The four-person scramble tournament consisted of 16 teams in both the morning and afternoon sessions. The American Legion and the 19th Hole were gracious hosts throughout the entire day. The Donut Shop provided donuts for the morning round and Subway provided lunch.

| Renewable energy scholarships available |
(CONCORDIA, KS) – Students enrolled at Cloud County Community College’s Concordia campus with an interest in renewable energies may be eligible for one of four $500 college foundation scholarships provided by the Leva and Frank Duclos Foundation.
Students majoring in the college’s new wind energy technology program are eligible for these scholarships. Recipients also must be residents of Cloud or Republic County who are enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) for the 2007-2008 school term and carrying a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
Bruce Graham, Miltonvale, will begin his first year as wind energy instructor this Fall.
“I am excited to be a part of this ‘leading-edge’ career path for Cloud County Community College students,” Graham said. “I encourage those who are interested in this program to submit a scholarship application.”
