Point CalculationAdmission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Cloud County Community College is based on points. As a student, you have control over the points accumulated and therefore, the potential of being accepted into the class. For each of the non-nursing courses required in the Program of Study, 5-10 points are allotted. For having IV Therapy Certification, an additional 5 points may be added. The actual score achieved on a pre-entrance exam is added to the total. Looking at the following table, you can see it is beneficial to complete most or all of the general education courses, obtain your IV certification and score highly on the pre-entrance test. You are aware of your greatest areas of competence in your nursing practice. Likewise, you can identify the areas in which you are least comfortable. That should guide your preparation for the pre-entrance test. Previous students indicate that NCLEX PN study guides, care planning, or concept mapping materials, as well as nursing texts, were good resources for guided study. Educational Resources has a new study guide for the PN-GAP available for purchase on their website at www.eriworld.com. Two copies of this study guide are on reserve in the Cloud County Community College Library.
