Eshbaugh began his coaching career at Eudora High School, where he coached the Cardinals to the best four-year combined record in school history. Following Eudora, Eshbaugh took over the program at Topeka West High School, and over the course of five seasons, led the Chargers to three state final fours, two league titles, and a combined record of 78-39.

Eshbaugh, and his wife Amy, are both originally from Topeka, KS and now reside in Concordia with their two daughters, Jordan and Mykah.
