Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for students attending community and two-year colleges. Membership is based on academic achievement in college courses, with members focusing on scholastic achievement and service to community and campus.

Concordia Campus  -  Upsilson Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Advisors Kimberly Muff and Tammy Budreau
Geary Campus  -  Beta Eta Xi of Phi Theta Kappa, Advisors Pete Pellegrin and Jeanette Gregory

Elgibility
Membership eligibility is based on having at least 12 cumulative college credit hours from Cloud County Community College with a grade point average of a 3.5 or higher. Eligible students are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa each semester.

Purpose
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Scholarship, Leadership and Service Hallmarks
The hallmarks for Phi Theta Kappa are scholarship, leadership and service. Following are some of the activities of the Upsilon Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa:

Scholarship Hallmark

  • Sponsor an annual International Day student panel and International Week activities
  • Transfer scholarship information available to PTK members
  • Annual recognition of students on the All-Kansas Academic Team

Leadership Hallmark

  • Campus entrance enhancement
  • Assist with the Telefund annually to fund college scholarships
  • Sponsor annual Instructor of the Year Award

Service Hallmark

  • Participate in the American Cancer Society Daffodil sales
  • Sponsor "Best Seat in the House" for local "Club 81" youth center
  • Provide ushers for Cook Series Events
