Why Agri-Biotech?

With the rapid expansion of the biotechnology industry in Junction City, Kansas, a significant shortage of qualified and trained personnel with an understanding and preparation in applied biotechnology laboratory skills is being experienced. As the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) establishes the $10 million dollar facility in Manhattan, Kansas, this need will sharply increase.

Cloud County Community College's Agri-Biotechnology degree is the only one of its kind in the state.  The uniqueness of this degree lies in its transferability of skills. With an Associate of Applied Science degree in Agri-Biotechnology, an individual could find employment in the bioscience industry, academia, healthcare, veterinary care, and government settings.

The program will encompass learning opportunities for both traditional and nontraditional students, students who have started and/or completed other certificate or degree work and want to continue their education, employees already in the workforce who desire a career change, and displaced workers who need additional training to return to work. This program is open to both men and women.
